Unicorn drawing, finished with crayons

Technically, a unicorn is a mythical, usually white fauna mostly with the body and head of a horse and a long flowing mane and tail. A unmarried often spiraled horn is in the centre of the forehead.

Realistically though, unicorns something showing upwards all over children's lives these days, thank you to a fascination with these creatures. Many can't seem to get enough, and so they are found on clothes, in books, in TV shows and probably many birthday parties too.

Now, if children want to draw more just a Unicorn Caput, this new tutorial volition help them practice just that. The horse-similar body is simplified to continue things easy for young artists. And the mane and tail are drawn with curly segments and so children can accept fun filling them with lots of colors.

Older students or those with an eye for item will have fun adding some shadows to their white unicorn body too. Turns out that light grey Crayola® crayon that seems to take almost no pigment at all, is perfect for adding shadows to white shapes. Information technology adds a subtle gray that never gets too dark, no matter how hard y'all press downwardly with information technology. See? Who says you demand paint to learn about shading?

How to Go Started

The best way to go students off to a practiced start on whatsoever cartoon projection is to prove them how to use guides as a reference point.

You lot may have noticed that all of the tutorials on this site have a dashed line running through the center of each step, both in the horizontal and vertical direction. If students brand their own centered lines on theirown paper, before drawing, they will take an piece of cake reference to follow.

For instance, as seen in Step i below, this unicorn cervix starts to the left of the vertical line, only higher upmiddle of the horizontal line newspaper. The body then continues down and to the correct.

Drawing skills are all about getting the size and placement of lines on paper, so having some visual reference points to get started, will always help anyone larn how to be a little more authentic.

So does that mean students demand to draw a big fatty lines downwardly the eye of their newspaper before they outset? Goodness no, please don't! That volition most likely exist hard to erase and distract from any finished art. No, only fold the paper in half both ways, make a pucker, and unfold. The dazzler is that by the time the drawing is done and colored in, the creases will disappear.

And now, on to our drawing projection.
